What is cumin cheese?

Cumin cheese is similar to farmer's cheese only farmers have added cumin seeds to the cheese. These seeds come from the cumin plant and belong to the umbellifer family. During the preparation of cheese, the cumin seeds are mixed through the curd, so the seeds are nicely distributed throughout the cheese.

The fragrant seeds give the cheese a slightly nutty and spicy flavour. The flavour can vary slightly from one cumin seed to another, with some being slightly sweeter than others. The longer the cumin cheese matures, the better the cumin seeds can impart their flavour and the stronger the taste can be tasted. Cumin cheese has a piquant character and is a great cheese for true cheese lovers.

Not a fan of cheese with a hard rind? We have rindless cumin cheese in our range. This cheese is easy to cut into slices and cubes.
