Roquefort
Roquefort is a raw milk blue-veined cheese made from 100% Schapenmelk. Together with Stilton and Gorgonzola, Roquefort belongs to the world's best-known blue-veined cheeses. This flavorful blue-veined cheese has a history that can be traced far back into the Middle Ages.
Roquefort comes from the French region of Aveyron and is named after the municipality of Roquefort sur Soulzon. The cheese carries the AOC seal of approval. This means that these cheeses are only made in this region according to a traditional recipe.
This raw milk sheep's cheese is white and covered with a special pattern of blue-green veins. These veins are caused by the addition of the fungus Penicillium Roqueforti.
Serving Roquefort
Roquefort is characterized by its rich salty and tangy flavor. In addition to being used on a cheeseboard, Roquefort is also excellent for use in a variety of dishes.
The cheese is delicious in savory pies and pastas, among other things. Of course, it is also possible to add this cheese to a delicious salad.
