Gouda Cheese wheel belegen
Gouda matured cheese has a minimum maturation period of 16 weeks and is made from the best Nederland milk. This ensures that these cheeses have a stronger taste than our young or young-aged cheeses. The taste is best described as slightly spicy. Deliciously creamy and full of flavour, but not yet as piquant as our Gouda mature cheeses.
Our Gouda matured cheese is ripened on wooden shelves. The moisture released in the cheeses is absorbed in the wooden boards. To ensure even ripening, our cheeses are turned regularly.
Processing whole Gouda mature cheese
While mature cheese is a delicious treat for on bread, it is also easy to use in various hot dishes. Use mature cheese when you want to garnish savoury cakes. Just brown it in the oven for a few minutes and you can go to the table.
It is of course possible to serve our young cheese with drinks or just eat it on the go. Our Gouda mature cheeses are pasteurised, which means you can just eat them while you are expecting.
