Brie
Brie, or sometimes called cream cheese, is a French white mould cheese. Unlike the raw-milk classic, this well-known creamy cheese is made from pasteurised milk. The result is a delicious full cream cheese with a soft character.
Brie has its origins in the historical region of brie of the same name. Today, these are the departments of Seine et Marne and Île de France located north of Paris.
Serving brie
Creamy brie is a cheese that can be eaten at different times of the day. For instance, this cheese is very tasty on a sandwich, toast or pisotlette at lunch. But it is also possible to use brie in hot dishes, it melts deliciously through the dish. In addition, of course, cream brie should not be missing on a cheeseboard.
If you want to serve cream brie, we recommend taking it out of the fridge about half an hour before use. This way, the flavour of this French cheese comes out best.
Brie with a nice glass of wine
A light and fruity red wine is delicious with a piece of cream cheese. Think for example of a good glass of Merlot. A fresh white wine is also a delicious combination with this French cheese, such as a Sauvignon Blanc or a Riesling.
